The CÉRIUM

Since its inception, the Montreal Institute for International Studies (CÉRIUM) has established links with partners in academia, civil society, governments and international institutions to advance research, support training and influence debate at the international level.

Research

CÉRIUM is a multidisciplinary team of senior researchers who specialize in the study of international relations. The team is composed of research centres, chairs and affiliated institutes as well as individual researchers.  Research caters to academics and to all persons affected by the evolution of contemporary international relations. They are disseminated through scientific publications, publications of general interest, conferences and seminars.

Training

In collaboration with the Faculties involved in international studies, CÉRIUM promotes the development of specialized training of high-level researchers to meet the growing requirement for expertise in international relations in the workforce.
CÉRIUM organizes summer schools for graduate students, business people, government officials, NGO members and journalists on important international issues.
It also hosts many postdoctoral fellows who are closely associated with the work of its research units and participate in seminars, conferences and symposia. CÉRIUM offers the opportunity for young researchers to integrate into international networks and to pursue their research through recognized publications.

Influence

CÉRIUM transmits its scientific expertise with civil society, business, government agencies, and international institutions to inform public debate and policy positions on issues of an international nature. Researchers associated with CÉRIUM contribute regularly to public debate through interventions in the media.

Most seminars, conferences and symposia organized by the CÉRIUM are available for free in our online video library, and are also broadcast on Canal Savoir to reach the general public.
